Privacy Policy for Stadnamn Skaraly

This privacy policy describes how Stadnamn Skaraly ("the App") handles user information.

1. Information Collected

The App is a location-based learning application for exploring Norwegian place names in the Skaraly area. The App may access:

• Device location (GPS): Used to show your position on the map relative to nearby place names. Location access requires your explicit consent and can be disabled at any time through the App's settings or your device settings.

All place name data is pre-loaded within the App. No user accounts, registration, or personal information are required to use the App.

2. How Your Information Is Used

Your location data is used solely to display your position on the map and calculate distances to nearby place names. It is not used for any other purpose.

3. Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device:

• User preferences (e.g. whether to show your position on the map) are saved to your device's local storage.
• Location data is held in memory only during active use and is not persisted after the App is closed.

The App does not transmit any of your data to any external server.

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services to display map tiles:

• OpenStreetMap — Provides base map tiles. Standard HTTP requests for map tiles may expose your IP address to OpenStreetMap servers. See OpenStreetMap's privacy policy.
• Statens Kartverk (Norwegian Mapping Authority) — Provides Norwegian topographical map tiles. Standard HTTP requests may expose your IP address. See Kartverket's privacy policy.

No analytics services, advertising frameworks, or other tracking tools are integrated into the App.

5. Place Name Data Source

The place name data displayed in the App originates from Fylkesarkivet i Vestland and is used under the Norwegian License for Public Data (NLOD) 2.0. The App is independent of Vestland fylkeskommune.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Your preferences remain on your device for as long as the App is installed. Location data is not retained after the App is closed. To remove all data, clear the App's data through your device settings or uninstall the App.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
